i've been gifted a lovely sewing machine table/cabinet that currently houses a singer, but i'd like to take the singer out, pop in my kenmore, and generally re-arrange the flock. will such a (relatively) new kenmore even fit into a cabinet? i can't tell where the screws would go.

Does your sm have spots on the back side for the pins? Some of the newer ones do not. If it does & the measurements match then it should work. Generally the older Kenmore's were larger than Singers so they would not fit in Singer cabinet. ..... others probably have more knowledge & can be of assistance.
Oh sorry... the area along the back side on the bottom is where the holes for pins would be I think. They would have line up with the pins that are in the cabinet & sm would have to be same length to fit in the cabinet....

If it has a flat board that inserts on top of the craddle you could set your Kenmore on top of the cabinet & use it that way. I have done that with an older cabinet & more modern sm. Then you can still use the drawers & have the height of having the sm in a cabinet. .... I hope this makes sense.......; )

I adapted my grandmother's sewing desk (made for a Pfaff 262) to fit my Janome 4800 - originally, it had pins in the back so the machine could be tilted inwards when not in use. I added shelf supports below the opening and mdf scraps to form a shelf. I also cut a new piece of wood as I didn't want to trim the one meant for the 221, just in case I get it fixed one day...
