I ordered several leather skins from Gorgeous Fabrics to make into another pair of Elle skinny pants. The skins are not quite long enough and I'm wondering where to put the horizontal seam for these pants. Above the knee--or below? I've Googled for ideas but I can't find a good example. Would love to get some crowd sourced suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Erin...look at some of Treefrog's recent reviews for Knipmode. She has made several pairs with seams at the knee level or thereabouts. While your pattern is different, they might give you some ideas of what can be done and how it looks.

You live in TX and you cannot find a source for leather pants?

I think the seam is just above the knee.

I would ask at Tandy or a motorcycle shop that sells clothing.

That's an interesting point. I really am looking for skinny leggings and I'm guessing they aren't normally sold in motorcycle shops. But snoop shopping might be a good idea.

Found some pictures that show where the seam should go when your piecing them together. It should go just above the nee a little.

here's another pair.

Awesome, thanks! These pants tend to make a few wrinkles at the knee, so above the knee seems like a reasonable place for them to be pieced. I'm going to try to make these this afternoon and I'll post a review.
