I have done some online digging but haven't found anything (not looking for Marimekko, but just modern fabrics that are seen in clothing from there). Anyone have any sources?

You can buy fabrics from Ottobre I believe - here is a link:

Etsy Shop for Ottobre

And not Sweden, but wonderful site in Denmark!

Fjolner

They are very nice to deal with. Fabrics, patterns, so many nice things. Shipping gets high from Europe, but sometimes it is just fun to order. :)

Thanks for the suggestions! This is from the Etsy store:

Isn't that just amazing? It is a bit outside of my price range for cotton knit, but so perfect. cotton knit

Contact the folks at TexStyles in Austin, you can find them just by googling. They shop in LA. They were able to buy PBT swimwear fabric for me and ship it to my home for about half of what it would have cost from the only online retailer I could find.

They requested 50% prior to the trip. I had to chase them down when they returned. Not to get them to ship, but to get them to take the other 50% of my payment.

I explained what I wanted, what the budget was, and what my flexibility regarding the fabric was and they added my request to their shopping list. I am beyond pleased with the fabric they purchased for me and over the top about the value. I will be ecstatic once I have sewn it all up.

I may have to resort to that, though I am not very good with sight unseen...not a very flexible mindset :0

Anyone from around the LA area reading this?
One of you could do that, go fabric shopping for others & get paid.

The sad part is that I lived in LA for almost ten years, but it was pre-sewing days! And I know the fabric district just well enough to regret my missed opportunity.
