Do you list your review with the pattern size you purchased or what it's altered to after using your actual/final measurements? I've read some posts that made me start thinking about this.

My high bust measurement puts me in a miss for most patterns, but my full bust and waist are definitely plus-size. I'm inclined to list the pattern size as a regular/miss, since that's the size I start with for my neck & shoulders, even though it's not what I end up with for the rest of me. Should I not be doing this? Can we list both sizes somehow? What do you do that is most helpful for people looking at reviews - use the starting size or finished size to determine whether your review is listed as a plus or miss? Thanks

I indicate the sizes available in that pattern. If a pattern is a Misses, and can be petite, I will check Misses and Petite. If the sizing includes Plus, I will also check that. When I describe sizing, I include what sizes I sew in the description in case someone can use that info, and I also will state whether or not the sizing seems true. Finally, I list what alterations I did, which always include petite alterations. If a pattern cannot be altered for petite, I cannot use it. Is this what you were asking about?

I think it's more relevant to know how the pattern sizes relate to your body! (As marec says, whether the sizing seems true) Especially with regard to the (usually huge) amount of ease in some patterns.

Can you choose multiple options? I thought you were limited to one. In any case, hazelnut, I've been doing the same thing as you - if the pattern is available in a misses' range, even if it bumps up into the smallest plus sizes, I've been listing it as misses'. Only if it's plus-only do I choose plus.

Yes, you can choose multiple sizes. Based on a discussion a couple of years ago, many plus-sizers start with a size 18 or 16 so go ahead and click the plus size option if it comes in "larger" sizes!

Thanks for the responses

I have several "works in progress" and was wondering how to list them. I gather from your responses that I can list multiple sizes only if the pattern actually comes in both misses and plus and/or petite. Like LauraTS, I thought you could only pick one too. I'm not a true petite in the proportional sense of the word, since I'm longer-waisted, but I do petite adjustments on everything 'cause I'm short and purchase petite size patterns when I can.

I doubt I will ever be able to state whether the pattern is "true to size" though, since I typically start out with a pattern that isn't true to my measurements. I'll have to read more reviews of ladies that are plus sized but need miss for neck and shoulders and see how they're writing their reviews. Thanks for your input. :)

I usually include all the available pattern sizes and show where the sizing break occurs for those who fall across the size ranges. I also add some detail as to what size I have cut and whether the fit seems true to size (or not!). I do this in the hope that it helps others assess the most suitable sizing to choose. If I make any sizing adjustments I also detail those, again in the hope the information will be useful to others.

What size is considered plus sizing? I will try to remember to tick the relevant (Regular, Petite, Plus) boxes for each pattern in future.

Reading Marec's post it sounds like I do much the same!

I'm not sure, it's seems to differ somewhat between patterns and pattern brands and where the breaks in sizes that you mentioned come into play. This is part of the problem for me. Plus my measurements are really weird.

I'm currently working on a Connie Crawford top and used my high bust instead of full bust. I now want to try her plus size and see if the shoulders are really smaller proportioned as the bust sizes gets larger (you're supposed to use your full bust measurement) before I do a review, esp since this pattern has 3 different styles with 3 totally different fits, along with 3 shoulder, armhole and sleeve cuts/shapes. And I thought this was going to be an easy pattern. lol
Thanks
