I bought a vintage Janome 673 recently (manufactured between 1955 - 1973), and discovered thru the manual that it has chain stitch capability, but requires a specific foot and a chain stitch mechanism to replace the bobbin case. I've hunted online without luck, and while I have the instruction manual, I'd like to get ahold of the service manual as well for a better set of drawings. Any suggestions/resources would be wonderful! (I'm on a quest!)

Hi - do you still have your 673? I have one and need info/one part #/manual. Can you help?
On my search I did come across a chain stitch foot, but maybe you need more than just the foot? ...

I had an older Janome with the chainstitch function. I tried Janome and after they told me the old manual was $20 I decided not to order the chainstitch parts.
So my advice - try Janome to see if they are still available (generic or otherwise) and the price from Janome may surprise.
good luck with your quest! It is a mighty function to have.
