While sewing today, the light bulb in my pfaff select started to flicker. I removed the bulb (which was no small task).
I did not have a replacement plug but planned to use the machine without one until I could order or buy another
When I plugged the machine back in, it won't work at all... totally dead. Will a pfaff sew if it doesn't have a bulb? Or do I have another, bigger problem?

You need to put the bulb back in for safety's sake. The electricity probably can't make a complete circuit or circle without the contacts of the bulb. It's like an open live socket.
