Is it worth it? (Moderated by Pyrose)

Has anyone bought the Madeira Thread Chest with the rayon thread? A friend of mine had one thrown into a deal she got recently and didn't need it. I was hoping to get a set of rayon thread for those projects that are really decorative and won't see much washing. She's willing to sell it for about $100 and I am kind of interested. Just wondering how the quality is and if it's worth it.
Also, is the thread color chart on Madeira's thread treasure chest any different than their regular rayon spools? I'm only asking because my embroidery program recognizes Madeira Rayon Thread and Madeira Treasure Chest. It's sort of confusing me because I thought the thread chest was just a bundle. But it seems the colors are totally different when I select Madeira Rayon and then try that same number with the Madeira Treasure Chest palette.
Any help is appreciated!

I think it's worth it. I got in on a Nancy's Notions special a while back where it was on sale and then we got the additional 15% ASG discount. It wound up being well under $200.
I have used this thread for several projects on my Bernina 730, and didn't have any trouble at all with it.
Sorry, I don't know about the colors being different between regular and the TC.

Grab it an run before she changes her mind! That's a great deal! I have one and have really enjoyed using the gorgeous thread. I use mine for embroidery on my Pfaff 2170 and it works great on it.

I have used Maderia Rayon thread for my embroidery business for 16 years and it is WONDERFUL thread. I mix it with the Maderia Polyneon thread with no problem. The only time you want to make a special effort to use poly thread instead is if the garment might be bleached or otherwise washed with harsh chemicals. It washes normally with no problem at all. It has a touch more shine and is a little bit prettier than the poly. Sounds like you found a great deal.
