Cold shoulders with flares
Is it just me or does she look like a "normal" person who has pulled together an amazing look and sense of style?
I hope I worded that right. I'm trying to say that she doesn't seem to be a high fashion model yet she looks so good. She makes me feel like I could do it too.
There are lots more pictures if you click through. I was searching for appropriate pants lengths for hemming the pants I'm sewing and found so much more!

Holy moley!
I started to write - never mind - I take it back - she probably is a model after seeing other posts.
Then I clicked on one more and learned she is 71 and just retired as a bookkeeper.
Way to go Karen! She's my new hero!
Here she is last fall:

That is what a 71-year-old--with great bone structure to begin with--who has taken care of herself looks like.
And you probably can do it, too, but a little note (and I am not being snarky here): Most ladies do need a little nip and tuck work at 71 to keep that jawline and neck tight, and I say thank goodness that this option is widely available these days.

Marymary - I think those of us over young, trendy styles age (whatever exact number value that may be) CAN look fashionable and trendy, we just have to learn to play up our positives and avoid/de-emphasize the negatives. Look at her outfit: it's understated, not over the top. The jeans show off her figure but cover any leg flaws (spider or vericose veins, loose skin, discoloration). There's no cleavage hanging out, the tummy is covered, and the exposed shoulders and jewel neckline draw the eye up to the face that is understated, rather than clownish.
I can do that, and so can you.

Angie (the fashion consultant/blogger at YouLookFab) says older women need to pick one thing that's trendy and then use classic pieces to back it up.
She interviewed Karen on another post about skin care. There were some interesting things mentioned there (surgery wasn't one of them but it probably wasn't polite or appropriate to ask).
I love the posts featuring her - there are so many looks to get inspiration from!

She looks wonderful, and has clearly taken care of herself over the years. It helps to have a certain bone structure, as Elona pointed out. The other thing I noticed is her smile-it is really a nice smile full of good spirit. Her teeth look good too.
Exercise, good nutrition, regular health care, and one key piece in an outfit. We can all do this-actually, we SHOULD all do this.
