What's your favorite swatching service? I'm new to buying fabric online and the fact that I don't know the names of fabrics is really frustrating. I figure I could learn from the feel of fabric swatches (also, I just want to receive fabric swatches in the mail!)

I'm thinking this would also make a good Christmas present to put on my list for those people who erroneously insist that I'm hard to shop for.

Clicking through the 28 page thread on fabric stores I saw it noted that FabricMart.com and VogueFabrics.com have swatch services. Any experiences, recommendations?

Thanks!

I really like getting swatches from NY Fashion Center Fabrics. They give you a good size square and each one is clearly labeled.

Vogue Fabrics swatch catalog is my favorite. It comes quarterly, and usually contains 6-8 coordinated swatch groupings (9 swatches each), with pattern suggestions. I think it's $35/year, but worth it in my opinion.

I love Sawyer Brook. Swatches come every 6 wks or so. Quality fabrics at a fair price. Great service - they respond to emails quickly. If you are looking for inexpensive lower quality, this is not the place. But you will learn a lot about the fabrics, and collections are color-coordinated. If you order a certain amount, the membership is free.

I have just begun subscribing to the Vogue Fabrics swatch service with a friend. I like it very much so far and especially like that many of the fabrics are in stock for a long time. I love FabricMart but hate have to hurry and decide before things sell out.
