I'm about to begin making a 50's era vintage suit from a vogue pattern. The main thing I love about the jacket is the convertible collar. This is the pattern view:

The instructions are clear but short and limited. They instruct you to attach the undercollar, sew the top collar to the facings, and then put the collar together later. Does anyone have experience with this and can advise what to watch out for? Here's the interfacing pattern

Here are the instructions:

My main question, before I begin, is what to use for interfacing. The pattern suggests 'nonwoven fabric' or hair canvas, but I'd really like a recommendation of an actual interfacing so the collar will 'convert' like it should.

I'm using a cashmere blend very soft suiting I bought on sale.

Thanks to all.

I think I'd heed their recommendation for hair canvas. Here's some: Hair canvas at Fashion Sewing Supply. And I can heartily recommend Fashion Sewing Supply's interfacings (and elastics).
