I recently came across a moda Moldes pattern magazine a friend from work had given me. It's all in Portugese, and from 1998. All the styles look very current even though it's an old magazine. Have any of you used these patterns before?? I think it's like BWOF mags. Looks very confusing to me, but I really like some of the patterns and want to give a try. Any tips for working with this?? Thanks!!

I've subscribed to Manequim Magazine for the past few years, but a friend travelled to Brazil two years ago and brought me back some other Brazilian sewing pattern magazines, too, including Moda Moldes which I reviewed here.

It looks like the pattern sheets were a lot less dense in 1998, though! You're right, that looks more like Patrones than Manequim. Like all pattern magazines, Moda Moldes has no seam allowances included, so you need to add them yourself. There's also usually only one size offered for most of the patterns, so unless you want to do a lot of grading up or down, I'd stick to patterns which are one size on either side of your size. I've not made any Moda Moldes patterns, but in Manequim I'm one size up from my Burda size (42 Burda -> 44 Manequim).

Here's some links which might help you:
My first review of Manequim magazine
My review of a Molde & Cia magazine
My review of a Figuirino Moldes magazine
The tag page for all my Manequim magazine reviews
eBay sellers with Manequim issues for sale (and they often bundle in other pattern mags, too)
