Re: This machine makes me wince (posted on 4/1/13 3:58 PM ET)
And kind of want to cry! Someone posted it on Facebook today. I hope it's a fools joke...

Eta....tried to change the title of the thread....I don't know why my iPad thought "wince" should have been "since...."

People do all kinds of creative things to their machines, here's just a few:

I think maybe that is what you get when you cross a sewing machine collector with a John Deer tractor collector! Maybe they have a old tractor painted up like a sewing machine too?

When I have seen Clare Rowley's machines in person I really like them. However I cannot bring myself to do it to any of my machines - I really should do it to one of my vintage ones.

I had seen some of the creative feet folks decorated up, sewing machines at their booths at some sewing expo's a long time ago. When they would sell the creative feet there. The new ones they have now do seem to be done a lot different. As it's much smoother and flatter and nothing to catch your fabric on. Before I think they were just doing that and the main purpose was in trying to even hide what kind of exact sewing machine they really were, by decorating them all up. Just to sort of prove that the feet could be used on any machine, and a machine with all markings taken away from it too, worked good for that. Because they would take off all labeling, and as I recall it, all that decorating on it then, was not even done back then, all flat and smooth decorations on there at all, it was done pretty lumpy and bumpy and 3D painted on wise and I think even glitter and such glued on too maybe.

I do think it's kind of funny and neat they are now trying to get other people to decorate their machines and even sell a DVD on it too!

This goes into the category of "whatever floats your boat"!

Kindle also assumes to know what you want to type.

I think you can defeat that auto-complete on your iPad by hitting the little pop-up guess that appears over the word as you enter it so that what you type remains.

I just hope it was a non working machine when they...."retrofitted" it! I love the idea of decorating the machine if you are artsy like that. Definitely a whatever floats your boat. But it breaks my heart to think they may have taken an otherwise functioning treadle machine and did that to it! Though I imagine it would be worth more as is if it was functioning, so it probably wasn't.
