My son and his wife are redecorating the upstairs bedroom of their 1 1/2 story bungalow. Because of the short ceilings, they couldn't find drapes to fit. So they bought regular length, and asked me to shorten them to fit. There was also a shower curtain that needed to be shorter.

The shower curtain was a single unlined layer, so it was easy as can be. Measure, cut, replicate existing hem.

The lined bedroom curtains are a different story. But I managed to get one set completed this weekend, and now that I know how it's done, the other set will take about 3 or 4 hours altogether. It's a bigger PITA than I would have guessed, but they look just like they did from the factory. (But shorter!)

Sorry, but there's no thumbs up or applause icon, so you'll have to pretend. Nice job.

As someone who just finished sewing and then hand-hemming 3 bay windows with 4 panels each and one normal window of 2 panels ( 14 panels total) of lined drapes I feel your pain and add my applause. It is a lot of work.

I hope your son and DIL realize the work you put into at least. My hubby works out of state most weeks and just comes home to finished projects. His response was "Looks nice... It's about time, though, the sheers were done in a week once you got the fabric, what took so long?".
