When I was at Joanns on Sunday I asked the saleswoman for non-fusible interfacing. Interfacing was on sale 50% so I thought I'd get some as I wanted to try that applique method. She didn't have any and there wasn't anything packaged either. I know I've been out of the apparel loop for a while. But still. I really never did like fusible interfacing and prefer the sew in kind when I did make clothing.
edited to add of course I forgot I now have teflon sheets and could have used the fusible but it was a weekend sale I believe. As my concern was I couldn't iron my pieces. Shaking my head I need a vacation with margaritas and and cabana boys lol.

Hobby Lobby and WalMart have regular interfacing. HL has a weekly 40% off coupon (you can download from their Internet site) and WM is whatever it is.

I don't shop at Walmart anymore and I even if I did have one near me I would refuse to shop at Hobby Lobby because of their stance on their employee health insurance.

You don't need something labeled "interfacing." I often use cotton batiste or lightweight cotton-polyester broadcloth, sometimes pieces from discarded shirts or other items. I've had excellent results with the cotton polyester blends for interfacing collars or neck facings. The polyester part keeps it smooth and non wrinkling.
The woven interfacings that are available are over-priced and often low quality. (Same is true of the fusibles, of course.)

Not using it for clothing. I'm using it for applique. It needs to very light weight. Joanns online has it, I'm thinking cos the sale they might have sold out of it. But I realized can use the fusible stuff. So if it's not on sale any longer can wait until next week and use a coupon.

Most of the stuff sold as non fusible interfacing is non woven -- so although it is light weight, it is stiff......I use cotton batiste or broadcloth whenever I want to avoid the iron on products.

Yes Kathi!! While I treasure some batiste as too soft to not make under clothing (or blouses), I've some sew in interfacing I do prefer versus the fusible. Fusible I like for purses only.
hmm ok another Applique thing... not now but I'm hunting you and Cat down when I begin my big Candy Dish applique!!!!!
and I know where to find you all

I like the margaritas and cabana boys idea! lol
Oh, and I am interested in your applique project - must be something I missed if you shared it already??? Is this for a quilt?

No it's almost done just have to trim, bind and ready for sewing. Hopefully tonight to get binding on and maybe even sewn down. I like to do it by hand.
