I want to make a clean line lace blouse/pretty but not fussy to dress up my wool skirts. I'll be using a lt. weight cotton as the base layer.I want this to be washable and am trying to decide whether to use lace that is a. all polyester b. rayon with nylon c. rayon with cotton d. a cotton crochet[lace curtain look].I'm afraid the nylons and polys might fuzz up after washing and there would go my hard work. Any ideas or experience? Thank You carry

IMO polys don't fuzz up, and I'd personally go with a poly/cotton blend. But I don't have the issues with poly a lot have.

If the blouse is cotton you might want the lace to be cotton. It would be able to have the same washing/drying/ironing/stain removal process- if that is important to you. A cotton eyelet trim might also look nice.

I'd go with the cotton crochet lace. Mostly because of what SandiMacD said. If you use poly lace on a cotton fabric, the poly might bunch up as the cotton shrinks from washing and that's an effect you don't want. There are many beautiful cotton laces out there. I agree. Cotton fabric for blouse and cotton or cotton blend lace. Preshrink each before cutting because the cotton fabric and the cotton lace will shrink.

Thank You,ladies.I agree cotton would be the best but I couldn't find any except crochet look and I 'm looking for something different. So I ordered a polyester.I figured it would behave better than nylon or rayon. So I'll shrink the heck out of both before sewing them. I think if I hem separately, they won't tug. then I'l launder carefully. Lace is so expensive-even for synthetics.I'll let you know if I learn anything from this project. carry
