I've been thinking about purchasing the TruStitch regulator for my Symphony, but I haven't seen many comments/opinions on it. Does anyone have/use it? I think the price is at least $1000. Is it worth it?

I did play with it and it seemed jumpy and you could not go very fast. Not so sure the $1000 price tag is worth it. I think you would do better taking a free motion class.

I have the HQ Sweet Sixteen, which uses the TruStitch for stitch regulation, and I love it. I can do free motion, but with the TruStitch I don't have to worry about my stitches at all. It's great for doing work with rulers, etc..
I don't know if it makes a difference, using it with a mid-arm (the Sweet 16) as opposed to using it on a regular sewing machine.
I love mine, although I agree it is really pricey.
I've seen some being sold on the SewItsForSale Yahoo group list for less than that.

I have it, but have had it a short time. I have seen it demonstrated so I know it works well. That being said there is a learning curve to it. Yes it does not go fast the fastest it can go is half the speed of your machine. Also you have to tweak with the settings to find what works for you. The manual is lacking and there needs to be more info on how to use it. I have only found a few online videos that are a few minutes long. I think it can be worth it once the learning curve is over, but the jury is still out as I have only had it a month so haven't had it long enough to test it out much. Have only used it twice. Won't turn you into a beautiful FMQ if you don't already have the skills. You still need to be comfortable with your movements.

Hi...It's been a while since anyone posted a reply to this question, but I'm interested in your reply.

Has anyone purchased a Babylock TruStitch Regulator? Do you like using it? Do you believe that it improves your ability to do free motion quilting? Is it worth the price?

Thanks,

U sed one in the store I worked at. We sold the Tiara with TruStich. I hated it. I agree with one of the other posters that it was jumpy. You have to keep the transmitter within a certain distance of the needle or it doesn't work. IMHO, speed control is the best stitch regulator. You can adjust your machine speed to your hand speed and come out with pretty darn good stitches.
I do have to add that I sat down and demoed a Juki 2200 sit down with a regulator and it was divine. I lusted. And I am not even a quilter
I think Juki are geniuses for making a machine that can "grow with you". Sit down, then you can add a frame if you want and then you can add a computer...you can work your way up to a full long arm set up in baby steps!

I bought the regulator but used an overlay from Kens that was cheaper and worked fine. I have a Symphony which is not my main machine so it doesn't get a lot of use but I like the regulator for that machine. I FMQ on the Janome with no problem but couldn't get great stitches on the Symphony and picked up the regulator on eBay on a low bid and won so worth testing for me.

Once you learn the process and adjust to the sounds it does give perfect stitches and I didn't have any problems with the magnet or clip, didn't have to hold the regulator while stitching but I wasn't using on a quilt and don't think I would want to something that big. Don't regret buying it but I can get same results on Janome without it. I am a gadget person and like trying available options.

The deluxe walking foot for the Symphony/Babylock line before the Muvit foot, that was a great addition to the machine for me.
