One of my cats lost her collar (again), so I decided to see if I could save some money and make them myself.

I found a place for the hardware hardware, including the break-away clasp.

But I am looking for reflective nylon webbing/strapping, ideally elastic, but non-elastic would work too!

Here is a picture of the elastic webbing, it is about 3/8" wide.

Sorry, I can't see to get the image to show up, here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u8ocbah46ynri2t/collar.jpg

I've bought reflective ribbon and ric rak, before, you could sew/glue it on to the collar. They also make it in iron on. I got mine at Joanns. Places that sell activewear fabrics like RCT tend to have alot of reflective products.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

Try Rose City Textiles in Portland, OR. They carry more and more reflective fabrics, ribbon, tape and strapping every year. Annette runs the srore and is great to work with over the phone. Check their website first.

I am not far from Rose City Textiles, and I have yet to go! Now I have two reasons: cat collar ingredients, and knit fabric.

Another great Oregon business (they are in Eugene) is Strapworks.com

They carry all the webbing and hardware you need to make collars, and I just put "reflective" into their search box and it looks like they have lots. I live in Salem and get my orders from them within a couple of days. Rose City Textiles is also a great store but I don't remember seeing reflective tape there; but then I wasn't looking for it.

Great resources! Unfortunately the reflective webbing is too wide for a cat collar, but they have some nice regular webbing.
