Where to find it (Moderated by Pyrose)

I read something in a post about basting the fabric onto the stabilizer the size of the hoop you will be using. Where do you find the pattern? I have a Brother Innovis 2800D.. I've been pinning the fabric onto the stabilizer after it is hooped since I prefer hoopless for my fabric. I don't like hoop marks on my fabric since they don't always come out and I always get puckering around the design so obviously this isn't working out for the best. I thought maybe if I basted it on I might have better luck.

Were you not able to find it in your manual?
Mine is a little icon that looks like a small box with a little picture in it with a dashed line around the outside (on the LCD screen). When I press it it adds a new color to my pattern, at the start, and then the first stitching run is the basting. I also have a Brother, so yours might be similar.

I had the Brother 2800D before I upgraded last fall. There is no automatic basting stitch for this machine. You can use one of the basic frame patterns, adjust the stitch length, and resize it to fit each of your embroidery hoop frames: then save the different sizes to memory to add to your embroidery designs. It's a lot of steps, but sometimes it's nice to baste around the design.

If you have machine embroidery software, you can digitize a square or rectangular basting box. I do it all the time with mine, to fit whatever size the design du jour may be. Then I adjust it to be the first item stitched out.

There are built-in designs, fonts and frames. Even the least expensive machines have these.
If you select one of the frames that best suits your need; rectangle, square, round, oval, heart - there are options of the running stitch, blanket stitch, satin stitch. Use the running stitch for a basting stitch and the options on the machine to make the frame larger or smaller if need be.
