Removing coverstitching will cause you to lose the will to live.
I tried Amy Allen's method that was posted in another thread and it did not work for me. This coverstitch is very dense and maybe that's why.
I also ordered the Seam Ripper Clipper. While it is handy, it didn't work any better on this project than my other rippers. So I ended up picking out all the stitching on both pair or rtw pants.
Oy!

I've unpicked my fair share of seams over the years, so I feel for ya.
Hope your day gets better.

I know, and hate, that feeling.
Coverstitch can take an age to unpick, but if you're out somewhere nice then that loose thread you find will cause the whole hem to come down.

I hear you!
So maybe you should try PR's own NhiHuynh's great coverstitch unpick tip.
Here's a PR blog entry about it with pix and a video.
Or you can go to her blog, which includes tips on picking out two other types of stitches too.

Haha - love the drama.
I know what you mean, and no one's tips have worked well for me, either. I'll pay attention to the responses and hopefully learn something.------

Oh tell me about it! Here's what I did: I unpicked coverstitching that I didn't need to unpick because when you make a casing for your elastic and then decide to change the size of the elastic, you don't need to unpick everything! How do you think you got it in there, bonehead?! I realized as soon as I sat down to do the new coverstitching that I had just done all that work for nothing. I nearly cried!

SewLibra you definitely have to try my trick. I can unpick a cover stitch in seconds. It's on video as proof. It use to take me hours or I would give up and live with it.
