So... a few years ago, Catherine's clothing stores were making undies using this sheer-ish elastic. I'm pretty sure it's made of nylon and it was really soft and comfortable. Very thin - almost like silky nylon stockings, but definitely thicker than that and not as sheer. I've done extensive searches, but I haven't been able to find anything like it. Foldover elastic is somewhat similar, but is MUCH thicker and not as soft and silky feeling. Does anyone have any idea what this kind of elastic might be called? It might be out there, but I just don't know the right name to look for. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it.

Could it be clear elastic?

JoAnn's carries Dritz Clear Elastic, and I see Amazon carries at least 3 brands. I bought mine from Kathy Ruddy at the last SewExpo I attended.

Definitely not clear elastic - I have some of that. This is more like a fabric almost. I THINK I found it on eBay, but it's the only listing like it and I've used similar search terms on Google, but have never found any similar. I asked the seller if she knows what the elastic is actually called, but she may not know if she just gets closeouts from manufacturers. I'll be buying some from her, but I'd like it in other colors... Plus, I want to know what to look for in the future.

Not sure if you can tell it's somewhat thin or sheerish in the picture, but I think this is it...

Here is the actual undies that use this elastic (they're no longer made, unfortunately, which is one of the reasons I want to find this stuff).

They now use a horrible scratchy, thick elastic on their undies. Digs into my skin.

Yeah... I've contacted Sew Sassy about it. I ordered similar elastic from her, but it wasn't as thin. She didn't know what it was, exactly. She said she just buys lots from manufacturers and didn't know much about it.

Well I hope they keep making it- very comfy looking. And yes, those are the same style panties I love too!

I found some elastic trim in JoAnn yesterday that looks just like it EXCEPT along each edge is a decorative ruffle trim. It was $2 for about 2 ft in a package.
I was looking for red FOE to trim a bathing suit top but this will work.

In fact, now I am thinking that the elastic you are searching for is FOE but without the center line to fold over.
