This thread is mostly to say I found a new site that I love! But also I have a problem! I sew mostly clothes and of course fell in love with mystery bundles through Fabric Mart. Well, I was searching for a line to do a quick light weight quilt for my DD and of course there are so many options I can't make up my mind. I come across Hawthorne Threads and their scrap packs. Never heard of them, but for $6.99 for 2 yards worth of cuts I figured I couldn't really go wrong (addiction part right?). I ordered 3 packs.

Here is what I got because I know you are all interested. I ordered the fresh packs:

What I am most happy about is because I only quilt once in a great while. And I always order online. I am not really familiar with quilting cottons. I received such a great assortment of fabrics and could feel the difference in them. There was one line, Art Gallery, which I had never felt before, that I now MUST order to make a dress from! I have never felt a cotton as soft.

Anyway, I highly recommend the scrap packs for anyone who loves a surprise, needs a stash builder, or like me can't make up their mind. In the end with shipping my total was $26.47. I wanted to make a scrappy quilt of butterflies and received a great collection to do that. The cuts were anything from skinny 1/8ths to almost a 1/2 yard cut of one fabric that I may make a scarf from. I ordered late on a Monday and the fabric was to me on Friday. I will also be going back to them to order some of the Art Gallery line for garments. They have a tiered pricing discount and loyalty pricing which is interesting.

I will be writing a review on here as there is only one as soon as I can figure out how. If anyone wants to let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

I go to that site all the time and never saw the scrap packs. That is definitely one of my favorites, but I confess that I don't buy a lot from them. Art Gallery fabric is amazing quality, isn't it!

If I were in to scrap quilts, I would totally take advantage of these sorts of things. Someone ... I can't remember who right now ... does grab bags too. Each piece of fabric is at least 1/4 yard and it's a great value. I will need to look around and see if I can find it again.

If you find it, I would love to know. I am going to use all this for this quilt and have no stash for quilting to speak of, save for a fat quarter or two I pick up here and there. What little I do have, I am always stealing bits and pieces of to make something or other, like my kids leappad cases, or my DD headbands, etc.... I would love to build an actual stash of quilting fabrics.

No Kidding! I have read there motto - "feel the difference", but thought - really come on all these companies hype something or another. But they are seriously above and beyond quality wise. As soon as I felt it, I thought of every dress that says "quilters cotton". I never wanted a dress in quilters cotton until now.

I have the same addiction. My worst one is the five-pound bags from Equilter. They are $24.99 for about 15 yards of fabric. DH groans when he sees the boxes from Equilter.

Be careful of what you wish for!
I will be spending my next 2 lifetimes trying to use mine up

If it can be done with a needle and thread, I can do it!
