Hey guys, I adore the damask-style (particularly the specific pattern I find on wall-paper, which isn't "too busy"), so I was wondering if anyone knows of a resource for any faux-damask cotton prints? Real damask, you see, is too heavy, too expensive, and it cannot be laundered by machine. Thanks! I would really like to use it for table linens and runners, as well as placemats, if I can find such an exhaustive resource.

You may want to try Hobby Lobby. I have a black and white "wallpaper" print from them, and I've seen others there. And most are quilting or garment weight cotton.

Here's one from their web page -

Yes, that pattern-style is perfect!!! Thanks! I'm looking for a dark cranberry sorry of red; sort of a softish kind of red without being too bold...if that makes any sense, LOL!

I second the motion for Hobby Lobby. Their in-house inventory has more selection of these fabrics than their website.

Lots of real damask can be laundered by machine--that's why they sell oodles of it as tablecloths. A cotton-blend damask is nicely washable. Actually... I think I've machine washed all my damasks (but I'm a rebel that way!). What you wouldn't want to wash are the flocked taffetas that were in style the last couple of years (which aren't "real damask," either).

This is a Renaissance gown I made with poly-cotton damask tablecloths from Penney's. The fabric is comfortable to wear, and stands up to muddy dog paws, abrasion (sitting on hay bales), and dust shakes right out of it.

I machine wash damask too. No problems. I have a gorgeous one right now that I found at JoAnns on the red tag table that ended up being about $3 yd after discounts. Washed it up and it's waiting to be a dress some day. But damask is heavy....not really a light summer type fabric.

A lint trap is basically a graveyard for the fabric you are losing from your clothes.

From fabric.com. The print is called "Madison". I used it in black to make table runners for my wedding. Actually this one I Posted may be called "Traditions". It's basically the same print but Traditions is a larger print.
