to illustrate "bread of life" (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)

Hello Sewing Friends,
A friend of mine is in charge of a Vacation Bible School and the theme this year is the seven I Am's of Jesus. Her wonderful craft helpers from last year aren't available and when I heard, I said I would brainstorm. We don't have children so I am actually at a bit of a loss!
Would anyone here have an idea for a craft to illustrate "I am the Bread of Life"? The children are grouped into about four levels beginning with age 4 and going up to grades 5 and 6.
I doubt there is time to actually MAKE bread in the craft time slot.
I thought about dehydrating some bread rolls and then varnishing them and putting them in a decorative basket but then you have . . . IN-edible bread, which seems rather at cross purposes to the lesson.
You can see I'm a bit stuck.
Ideas welcome!
Thanks,
MP

How long is the craft section? Could you use the jiffy biscuit mixes?
Last biscuit mix I made was the Red Lobster cheddar bays and I think that took 30 minutes total.

Refrigerated breadstick dough. They could shape the ropes into whatever they wanted. Give them some poppy seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, cinnamon sugar to sprinkle on them. They bake quickly and you could have them as part of a snack.

Could you use fridged bread dough? I think the verse is "I am bread of life. Who cometh to me shall not hunger." The kids could take turns forming it into pans. And then, following the message of sharing, they could donate the bread to a soup kitchen.

What about cutting out "slices" of bread from brown craft foam and then assembling a simple cardstock basket to place it in with a tag for the verse to hang off the handle?

“I AM” lessons, please scroll down to Illustrator: Your job is to draw a picture of the verse.(If He is a boat, draw a picture of a boat with Him in it),and the I AM sayings for suggestions.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone, and keep them coming!
From elsewhere I also have these ideas:
--serve breads from around the world (we are in NJ, very multicultural, so this would not be difficult); illustrating that every nation needs bread, every nation needs Jesus
--dehydrate some attractive hard rolls e.g. w/ poppyseeds ahead of time, then (as the craft) shellac and affix attractively to little bread boards or put in a little basket.
I suppose part of the challenge is that bread is so "everyday" but then again that is the point, isn't it--without food, we die . . . hence the parallel . . .
