I'm not sure if this is the correct board- if not, let me know. I went to try on blouse styles and look at fall blouses. and many of them have a metal trim piece (like a tube) in the front.
I have a pattern I think I can alter for this, but have no idea what to call- or where to find - such a trim. I've added a photo
Any ideas? I've tried M&J Trims, but can't seem to bring it up with metal tube, under buttons, etc...

Don't have any idea on where you could find this, but a word of caution - I have a top with this kind of embellishment along the neckline and the tube causes the neckline to droop and distort in a most unflattering way. I can't believe I didn't notice in the store when I tried it on...sigh. So just be cautious with the type/weight of fabric vs the weight of the tube (when you find it) when adding this embellishment. The idea sure is cute, though!

One place to look would be jewellery supplies - unfortunately, I don't have a better search term for you.
Do beware of painted plastic though - the paint can come off or lose it's finish after a few goes through the machine (yes, I speak from experience).

I'd be tempted to look at the hardware store.

Thank you ladies. I was hoping one of the many fabulous brains had searched these things. I guess I'm off to jewelry and hardware sections!

Look in jewelry supplies. There's all kinds of tubing out like that now. It's all fairly lightweight so shouldn't be a problem. I know Hobby Lobby has a number of different ones if you have one of those around.

Two things to keep in mind if you use metal embellishment like this where it rests directly on your skin:

1. Nickel allergies. I'm always careful about costume jewelry for this reason but somehow I didn't think of it when I purchased a top that had a similar decorative detail. The itch and rash soon reminded me.

2. Heat. If this is worn on bright, sunny days the metal will get VERY warm if exposed to direct sun for any period of time. Another thing I learned from my previously mentioned purchase.

On Etsy, they are often called tube spacers or connectors

Nice link, ariana.

You may want to keep in mind how you will launder this garment.
We see a lot of embellishment at the dry cleaner where I sew. Some of it gets "melted" in the dry cleaning method. We can cover or remove and replace buttons and they survive, but trim is a different problem.
Washing might be safer, but you need to consider the fabric of your blouse. It may be dry clean only.

I don't know how you determine the washability of the trim. If it's labeled, could you let me know. I'm always curious about these things.
