Okay, the titles should have given you a clue, but anyway:

I remember reading a book a few years ago on clothing alteration. It had a blue coloured cover, was circa 1960s / 1970s at the most, and was published by the Florida Board of Education.

It was the most comprehensive book on alteration I have ever read, and covered *everything* regarding RTW alteration.

It's been culled from my local library AND from the library of a local college that has a fashion design program (what kind of library THROWS OUT a rare book?!) .

Has anyone ever heard of this book? Does anyone own it? Or can you suggest a substitution?

I'm sorry you can't find your book.

I don't know the name of your book but ,Judith Turner aka jean genie ..specialises in rtw clothing alterations. She has a web site and a book. The book is called clothing alteration secrets revealed.
You can sign up for a newsletter as well I think.

I know it's not what your after, but it might substitute in the meantime. 😊😊

I don't know about Florida, but here are two books that really tell it well, and they are clear and understandable. I have purchased the men's one in the past. Both by Mary Roehr.

Altering Women's Ready to Wear

and

Altering Men's Ready to Wear

Good luck!

All I could find was this one. If that's not close, let me know and I'll ask my research librarian sister if she has any ideas about how to find it.

Is it this book?

If Amazon doesn't have it from any sellers, Alibris had a few copies.

I think it's kind of close (I really wish I could look inside and see to be sure!)

I found it thanks to one of the other posters - Its this book thanks to her link!

I hope I can find that online too, just like your link, which, by the way, is super useful!

I'm the sort who likes multiple resources, since reading different things in different ways somehow makes more sense to me when learning.

Thanks again!

YOU, MADAM, WIN THE INTERNET TODAY. THAT'S THE BOOK!

(Yes, I used all caps on purpose)

I have no clue why I couldn't think of the title. The strange dusty corridors and mazes of my brain.....

That looks like a cool book and you can maybe print it out from that site. Magic.
