I have entertained the idea of purchasing a steam generated iron for some time, but don't want to invest that much money since I have never had one, am not sure if I would like one.
Today I saw a used one at the Goodwill. It was a Kenmore, (didn't know they made them) It looked like it was in good shape. My thought is to try this and if I like it, then I will invest in a new one of good quality. But I am hesitant to try this model since I don't want to make my decision based on an iron that might not represent the steam generated ironing system well.
Does anyone know anything about the Kenmore steam generated irons? How old might this one be?
Thank you to all who respond to this question.

I don't think Sears ever had any "Kenmore" factories. So Kenmore brand,on any appliances, is just a Sears's name, they put on things, that were made for them, by some other place. But, if you really want to go back to the Goodwill Store and look at it, and get the actual Sears Kenmore model # off of it, then you can always go to the Sears web site here:

and punch that # in, and probably come up with it's owners manual and instruction book. From that you can probably figure out, about when it was made, and have the owners manual.
Being that it's at the Goodwill Store though, and since I don't think they test donated things at Goodwill at all most times, I think I would at least plug it in there, with one of their wall outlets and make sure it still even heated up and got hot. And there probably is no good way to be able to put water in it there, in it's tank, to see if it generated steam or leaked or not maybe.
But, if it's only a few bucks, it might be worth the chance, just since if you did not like it or it did not work, I think you can always just donate right back to them.
