Will this iron last (Moderated by Sharon1952)

I was at the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo this week and watched the demo on the Eurosteam iron. I wanted it last year but passed. I have an Olisio that is 3 or 4 years old and it is working well but has the occasional, unexpected drops of water coming out when least expected. So I bought the Eurosteam - it really does press things easily and fast. I know it is a lot of money but honestly I iron everyday so I went for it. Anyone have one that they have used for a few years? Does it continue to perform well?

List price seems to be about $250, were you given a show price?

I've had the iron for about 2-1/2 years. I had an issue of it leaking. When the home show came to town again (that's where I bought it) I asked about the issue & she told me to flush it out with vinegar. That seemed to fix the issue. I don't use it all the time as I have another iron I use when doing garment sewing. I got the Eurosteam because of nothing sticking to it like interfacing etc & it does work well in that regard. Having said that, I wouldn't get it again. I just bought a Hot Steam gravity feed iron from Wawak for $79 & it's awesome not to mention so much less expensive.

I drug my husband along to the sewing expo last year and he bought one. It isn't used much as the ironing board is in my sewing room and I much prefer my Rowenta for sewing. If it was up to me, I wouldn't have purchased it. It is made of hard plastic and I can just see it breaking into a thousand pieces the first time it is dropped. We have hardwood floors. We did stop by the display this year at the expo and it seems they have changed the casing. I still wouldn't buy it again.

The show price was $200. I must say so far I am very pleased with it. I am making potholders and once turned it takes just one burst of steam and they are pressed flat even at the seams.
