I like this New Look pattern for the jacket. The only problem is that it starts at a size 10. On the back of the envelope, it says that a size 10 is a 32.5" bust, 25" waist, and 34.5" hips. I have a 31" bust, but a 25" waist. Do you think I'd need to do major work on this pattern to get it to fit? Or will it be okay if it's a little big? I don't usually even consider buying a pattern unless it's in my size because I don't think something I pay for should require extra work. But I really like this one.

I don't think you'd have to do much work at all to get that to fit. (GORGEOUS pattern, by the way).

The princess seams would, I think, give you room to cheat a little - you could, over the bust, simply increase the seam allowance a smidge, tapering to no increase at the waist. A good pinfitting would suffice, in other words.

what if the hokey-pokey really IS what it's all about?

Considering that it's a raglan style I don't think the fact that it may be a little big will be a huge problem. You can take it in a little here and there during pin fitting.

Thanks, guys! I have the perfect fabric for this and now I think I'll go get the pattern.

Wow!
How gorgeous is that!!!
I look forward to reading your review and seeing your finished jacket.
I would love to make this myself.
