Sell my Bernina 630 w/ embroidery for a Janome 8900 QCP?
(I'd still have another Bernina, 350).

Up to you. I sold two Berninas and don't miss either one. If you have tried the Janome and can bond with it, go for it.

Do you want the embroidery? I love the Janomes and the newest version of the 8900 is awesome. Like the other person said though have you tried it and love it more then you love the 630?

What I would miss most about my 630 is the ability to adjust all stitches, not just some of them. Also I think doing things left of center would be beyond difficult for me to get used to unless all my machines were that way!

Left of center? Janomes have center needle drop unless you need left of center for something as far as I know - mine do, and I didn't notice that the 8900 had left needle drop at all when I sewed on it.

I never noticed left of center either and I'm sure that would have jumped out at me as it annoys the heck out of me on Brother and Babylock models. I have sewn on it, the 8200 also, and the needle was always centered. Stitches beautifully.

I have the B630 w/ embroidery module, and I think you are crazy to consider selling it.

I never liked any Janome I tried--- and I tried several. I would not part with my 630. It is a wonderful machine. I have only used the embroidery a few times so far, but liked it ---once I got a new bobbin case. My old case did not work properly when doing embroidery. The new case is fantastic.

Do what will make you happy. Will you have regrets if you sell them?

Currently working on a boys quilt. Sized 40 x 40 inches. It has chickens, chicken eggs, cows, fish, sea life, afield with water, Dachshunds, mini sailboats, and many colorful other fabrics. The blocks are a 4 x 4 finished size, so many of them are needed.
This my 4th quilt in 7 months.

The 8900 is a nice looking machine -lots of space, good lighting.... I haven't seen one on person but looked at some videos. The foot lift is a plus, the extra height that you can achieve with the second lift is a plus-plus.

At 27 pounds, and with an 11 inch harp, it qualifies as a monster machine. I have a monster machine and was unprepared for the lack of portability. I'd still like to put everything away when we have guests amd/or sometimes change sewing locations. It's great having a room to sew in but I wasn't fully prepared to be isolated to that room.

My monster machine has a similar grouping of buttons just over the needle area. It looks like the Janome body slants in, like my machine's, at the location of those buttons. When my left hand is holding the fabric, I find that reaching over with the right and then turning the wrist to accomodate the downward slant feels a bit awkward. It is something that I wish could be improved upon (with my machine).

Are you okay with the side screen? That's a deal breaker for me on any machine. (Personal ergonomics) and does it have the type of bobbin you prefer?

Does it come with the accufeed attachment? I watched a clip on that. Although I prefer built in dual feed, the accufeed attachment (if it works on the 8900) looks like it would not be clumsy.

With a 350 and a 630 you have enough machine experience to know what feels good to you. Thinking you have probably already decided; if so, hope there are some upcoming sales.

What is it that you feel is missing from what you already have? Do you maybe just need to upgrade your embroidery software?
