At last, an affordable plug-in that gives great light! (Moderated by Sharon1952)

My Ikea Jansjo Desk Work LED Lamp Light arrived yesterday and I am in love. This little lamp (5" weighted base, 19" flexible neck) fully illuminates the harp and needle areas with a wide beam and stays out of my way while doing it. The on/off switch is on the cord, which plugs into a wall outlet (NO batteries!) It's rated at 70 lumens with 20,000 hours of life. And at Ikea it costs $9.99 but you can order from Amazon for $16 and is a Prime Shipping item.
The light switch on my 1969 Bernina mechanical just stopped working last week and isn't worth replacing. I had, coincidentally ordered an LED bayonet base bulb from an eBay seller that broke off its base while I tried to install it. That wasted $12. There are other LED lights out there that are great, including the strips that mount under the harp. But they're a lot pricier than this little lamp. I've posted a notions review with more detail and a working link to an image. (I've tried to put the link in this message but without success.)

Agreed that it's a great flexible lamp that stays out of the way while lighting exactly what you need. Because of the price, I have three of them (for sewing, serger, and coverstitch machines). I've had them for two years.

and another recommendation: I bought 7 of these for my sewing studio ( West Side Sewing Studio, Providence, RI) 3 years ago at the Stoughton, MA Ikea.
Would prefer if the switch were situated on the base of the lamp but otherwise very happy with them.
