First off let me start by saying that I have the best husband ever! We needed a large surface for ironing yards of fabric. Our ironing board is too small, too flimsy and ANNOYING! I want a huge surface that I can iron out my fabric with no fuss. that is where having a carpenter in the family really comes in handy!
He had previously made me a sewing table with storage, but I always wanted an ironing surface on top. Hubby had an accident his Summer at work and lost 2 fingers, so our sewing was put on hold. What a great project to get back in to the thick of things.
All we needed was a thick piece of plywood, 2 layers of felt, muslin (in French it is yellow Cotton), and a staple gun. And Voila! A beautiful ironing surface is made.

Great idea, nicely executed.

I share my she-cave with a large dog crate and I have been thinking about putting a large piece of plywood on top to use as a cutting table.

That would work! It really makes ironing so much easier. It is something I detest. But on this large work area it is much easier

Very nice-especially the way he rounded the edges. Perhaps we need to announce a Best Husband Ever Contest and try to get a little friendly competition going. I know I sure would like an ironing board like that one!
