I'm making a Wendy Testaburger cosplay this year, and I am trying very hard to find a coating fabric in this color:

It seems that all the fabrics in this color are very lightweight and all the fabrics that are more heavyweight are either too light or too dark. I would greatly appreciate any help.

If you can find the right COLOR, but the fabric it is too lightweight, you can use a fusible batting to thicken it up.

This particular youtube video is for double-sided fusible batting, but you can also find a single-sided fusible batting. It's thin, not too thick.

The double sided fusible might be cool to just adhere your self on one side and your lining on the other. Sew it all together, bind or serge the construction seams and you're done!

Underlining with flannel would add heft and warmth. Another approach if you find a wool flannel that's not quite heavy enough.

Mood Fabrics has an Italian Purple Wool/ Cashmere Coating (Product #308247). It may be too dark but worth a look.

Is Wendy's coat a shade of purple? mauve? lavender?

Would denim work? Denim is sold in different weights and colors. Or just buy white and dye it the color to match Wendy's coat.

I recently purchased enough hot pink 10 oz. bull denium from Girl Charlie Fabrics to make myself a new barn coat (please don't laugh at me.) They had several bright colors avaoilable. The denim I purchased was 97% cotton and 3% lycra. It's a nice coat weight fabric and a good quality denim.

I just checked Girl Charle's website and it appears that most of the pretty colored bull denim fabrics have been sold. Here's the link anyway

Girl Charlie Twill and Denium

You could send Girl Charlie an email to find out if they will be getting any more of the bull denim in.

If the lighter weight wool, is 100% wool, you could buy at least double and make a boiled wool yourself, which would thicken it quite a bit. I have "boiled wool" by washing and drying it at the hottest setting three times.

I saw your picture, and immediately thought of this wool-blend jacketing I got from Denver/FFC:

The shade of purple and the weight are spot on, and it was easy to work with. The white stripe *is* pretty visible, though, so if you don't want any deviations, this won't work. But for a real-life version, it would be a great option. It's also really soft and feels nice on. :)

Here is a picture of my three-year-old niece (who looks nothing at all like Wendy Testaberger!) wearing it:

I don't know what Wendy Testaburger is, but Joann's has a sweatshirt fleece that is this color. I bought some a few weeks ago.
