The local Hancocks is closing and find myself in need of quality fabric for skirts. I am making, lined skirts. Basically straight. To be worn to church. Any suggestions on stores?

Fabric Mart always has some type of suiting in different fibers from wools to silks to polyesters and blends. They have a wide selection of linings now, too. And if you wait for sales (which rotate with clocklike regularity) you can get nice quality fabric for a bargain price.

Projects completed in 2024: 3 pairs gloves. Four pairs of jeans. Five custom tarps. A dozen linen hankies. A wool wrap for a friend. Four linen bath towels and 24 washcloths. Two bed pillows.
38.5 yards of fabric out.

I look for stretch twill for skirts, gives you a little room and it comes in pretty colors, sometimes prints.
Check your area WM's. Some are bringing in a little more fabric. I made a couple of neutral swing cardigans from their ponte, washes nicely.

Sorry about your Hancocks. You can order from Hancocks online and from JoAnn's. Their prices might be more than some of the other online vendors though. I like linen for spring and summer and you can find it in prints or solids. Do you want suiting fabric?

Fabrics-store.com has inexpensive but ok quality linen and linen-cotton blends in several weights. Watch for sales. What sorts of fabrics are you looking for?

When our Hancock's closed out years ago I started going to Joann Fabrics. I still do because I prefer to feel and see the fabric, but if disappointed there I order from Fabric.com. There is a large selection with good descriptions and washing instructions. I use this site as much if not more than actually going to JoAnn's. I know, I know... some say they have had problems but I never have in years of ordering from them.
