I'm looking for a fabric to use to make pants like these:
amazon.com. I have searched and searched on-line, and these pants always retail for about $55.00-65.00, $45.00 if you can get them for a "steel". My daughter is only 5, and is just getting into skating. She will be twice as big next year, and may decide by that point skating is not for her. I am not interested in investing in a commercial pair of fancy skating yoga pants. BUT, the pants are cute. A bunch of the girls where them on the ice, and they are much warmer than her regular leggings she wears as an everyday fashion item. I would be happy to take these on as a sewing project and support her budding interest in what is likely to prove to be a very expensive sport if she sticks with it. I would say I'm a beginning, but determined sewer. I am scoping out patterns that I think will work well, but I'd like to get as close to the commercial fabric as possible. It seems to be like a ponte knit on the right side, but fleece on the inside. They don't appear to be made in a double layer, but rather the fabric is two sided. Thoughts?

I think those pants are made from Polartec polar fleece. You should read another topic, Breathable and 'wicking' fabrics; on page 2 of that topic is a nice long post from member 'Kayl' listing some places to purchase outdoor and activewear fabrics. I'm sure you could get some Polartec polar fleece from one of those sources.

I made my nieces fancy skating pants from a stretch polar fleece. Its smooth like lycra on the face and fuzzy on the inside. I used a Jalie pattern. They are easy to make. I think its a called a performance fleece. If you have any Hancocks left open I did find a bolt on the value table of a stretch polyester which was a smooth faced ottoman with fleece on one side..

I can't get your picture to come up but when I was looking for some specific activewear fabric for some hiking pants for my son, I called The Rainshed. You can order online from them but I didn't know what any of the fabrics were like so I called, spoke to a very helpful woman and then ordered.
Jalie patterns are fantastic for activewear.
