I just finished making my first version, it was cut out last summer when I was 10lbs lighter. It fits okay, maybe I'd like the armholes a bit roomier. The style of swinging out fits over my middle, still fairly loose. I cut a 6 at the shoulders and an eight the rest of the way. Today I took new measurements and based on those I will be cutting a bigger size. Biggest difference is my waist, an additional 2 inches. So my question is, my bust and hips have me close to a size 8, but my waist bumps (literally) me up to a 14. I know the design ease makes this forgiving, but how do I get around this in other styles? When I buy RTW jeans, I do almost better in men's sizes. I guess this puts in the apple camp. I'm having trouble picturing how to adjust for this without the hips being so loose. Thank you for your help.

This article might help:
Using multi-sized patterns
Basically, you can absolutely blend from one size to another to get the fit that you personally need. Good luck!

You can grade from the bust out to the waist in the sizes that fit for those areas. The tiny pocket tank flares at the bottom if I recall so if you don't need that extra width at the hips, reduce the flare from the waist to the hips.
The tank shape will be more | | than / at the bottom, but it would suit your shape more.

Thanks, I found a couple of tips in the link that I hadn't thought off when going multi-size. I was worried about changing the shape of the garment too much by such up and down size changes. You have made me think about making more careful choices in a style. I like empire waist and I always thought styles that flared out would hide the tummy. I love my new tiny pocket tank, it's the first thing I've sewn that the shoulders and bust actually fit well. My profile is kinda maternity though....
Well the body is a work in progress as is the fitting education.
