Best free printable or tutorial for adding a hem ruffle, the swingy kind? Either for a contrast color or to add length for growing girls? They look more current for a 9-year old than the gathered type for little girls and use less fabric.

They also hang nicely for trim down the fronts/sides or vertically on a skirt.

I think you might mean a flounce?

Thank you! That's a fairly easy to follow tute. With granddaughters aged 9 to 2 mos., it is a great addition to my cache of sewing tips.

And thanks to gramma b for asking about this.

One of the best discussions on flounces, which is what I think you're talking about, is Colette Wolff's Art of Manipulating Fabric. You can see a bit of the section on flounces here:flounces

You may find that flounces don't save you much fabric because of their curved nature. They can also be a bigger challenge to narrow hem because of the variety of grainlines presented.

Thanks--I hated geometry!
Trying to understand how that spiral A-B-C cut flows compared to the big donut for fullness at a hem.
Without enough fabric left to add 4-5" for growing legs, would you make 1/2 circles in contrast and join every other one?
