I just watched the Season 1 and, wow, am I impressed with these teens! (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)

This past weekend I finished watching the 1st Season of Project Runway Junior. As a beginner sewer, I am so impressed with these young people!
I wish we could get schools to provide introductory sewing to all kids. I see it as beneficial for building cognitive ability and raising confidence as much as taking piano lessons!
Anyone else have fun watching?

I saw the first season and they were extremely talented as well as very nice to each other. The second season is on now and I think they are too.

The ones to watch from my POV are C. from Chubbuck, ID and the girl who had the clover on her head as they do in China. I am so bad with names. Even DH saw the bins on the losing garmet. I can gain inspiration and creativity through these young adults. Love the show. Best regards.

I didn't care for the format of the first season or two, where the fabric was supplied in a room and they often had their parent or other 'helper' in the room with them.
This season and last is much more like the original series and I love it. And talented? My opinion is that the skill set isn't as advanced as the adult version, but the talent is crazy good and maybe even better than the adults. Does anyone else think the teens could give the grown-ups a run for money in talent?

Yup, there is some serious talent being offered up. And their occasional self-importance is still charming, whereas it's a bit tedious in 30-somethings. :)

I did end up watching this show last season. I can see some good talent again this season, but last night I just had to turn the tv off and call it quits. There's one girl who yells when she is talking and the whiner that was eliminated and reinstated who both grate on me. I wasn't liking any of the designs either. Maybe I'll tune in again in a couple of weeks and see who is left. Maybe I was just in a bad mood or something.

No, you're not just in a bad mood. I feel the same. I was kind of glad when he got eliminated last week and surprised that Tim used his save. I don't think that kid has shown any particularly outstanding talent, he just got picked on by his partner in that challenge and didn't stand up to her.
They seem to be spending a fair bit of camera time on the one with the thing on her head (Issy?) and the judges said they are watching her. They didn't care for the dress she made but let her slide through. Shades of Erin? Oh no! I find her yelling and leaping around annoying too.

I just watched Season2, Episode 1 and again, I am impressed by the level of creativity of the teens.
But, to be honest, the level of the sewing skills underwhelmed me. Sure, they can not have that much experience in sewing at their age. But still: Was it as bad in the first season? Weren't they provided with pattern blocks at least.
There is certainly more product placement (Mood, justfab, sally beauty etc.), but I think they gave the kids kind of more help in the first season so that the garments turned out a bit more polished.
Is it only me or did you get a similar impression?

Agree with last 3 posts. Still watching, but underwhelmed by garments, annoyed by the yeller and completely over the savee, who went home 2 challenges later anyhow, clearly out of his element the entire time.
I'm also having a hard time keeping faces/names straight. There seems to be an abundance of guys with long blond curly hair.

I just finished season 1 and started on the episodes of season @ that are 'unlocked' on Lifetime. The age span and maturity levels seems wider in the second season than the first. I think it is showing in the designs. I was also disappointed that Tim used his save so early in the show.
I do like how positive the judges are and how they are really supportive of all the contestants. And the contestants crack me up when they parrot what they've heard from the original PR series. On the other hand, it is refreshing that they took the time to research and become familiar with PR and the different challenges before going on the show.
