If your calves and feet are discolored, you might be dealing with the so-called "brawny" discoloration of stasis dermatisis, which can be googled. There is treatment, but a consult with a vein specialist might be needed.

Are you looking for clothing?

Hanes Alive pantyhose is pretty good - they're durable, they look normal, and they don't crush your waist. They actually DO have graduated compression - much much more than the ones marked 'Active Support.'

For socks, try Nursemates (poly? lycra) or Sockwell (merino wool and lycra). Both are reasonably durable, offer graduated compression that starts on your foot, and don't strangle your leg at the top of the sock. The nurse mates is designed with a looser toe than the sockwells are.

This gives you a couple of affordable, everyday looking options. They're all available on line in the typical places. This gives you a place to start in addition to whatever your dr. recommends.

Just stay away from compression sleeves - they might make your feet worse.

Thank you. I haven't been able to find the name. Wow, there are some unique pictures of legs & makes me thankful. I will follow up on this with some research.

Yes I have been looking at compression socks but I had zero idea of brands. Your suggestions are great & now I can order them tonight!!! I saw the compression sleeves, but I was concerned it would cause swelling of feet & ankles. Many thanks!!!

My acupuncturist suggested Sockwell socks fir travel. I got 2 pair. The plan is to add more. They are also good when I'm on my feet a lot or gardening. The support is helpful.
