Husband: Can you sew shoulder straps onto this rifle bag? It should be easy.

Me: You mean backstrap straps?

Husband: Yes.

Me: [Examines bag.] You would have to deconstruct the bag.

Husband: Why?

Me: Because the foam padding is too thick and too dense to sew through.

Husband: But it should be easy! You just take the foam out!

Me: Yes, that's why you have to deconstruct the bag.

Husband: You just cut it out with an Exacto knife and take the foam out.

Me: And then you have to put it back together again. How would you do that?

Husband: Duct tape!

Me: Why do you even need me for this project?

Love that!
H. also thinks I can/will repair any industrial-strength thing in his garage and take-in/take out his jeans according to his weight of the season.
I should pick up every car or tool explanation in 5 minutes, but he only learned a sewing machine works by 2 interlocking threads after 40+ years plus his mother sewing before that. He offered to "oil" my vintage machines once and I said, NO! Don't ever touch! Now I hide MY tools because he steals for his projects and never returns them.

Yes.....I heard that numerous times before.....and those DH 'It should be easy' projects (for me to do) are still not done......he has his own sewing machine to use!

Anytime anyone says "it should be easy", is the time to walk away...immediately and quickly.

This is why I keep business cards for an automobile upholsterer, a pack maker, and a custom strap maker. "Here ya go. I'll be interested to see the design you guys come up with."
