I've written several reviews over the past decade or so on Bernette sewing machines, which I've enjoyed alongside my Berninas. I've also enjoyed many models of Necchi machines, some cousins to some Bernettes, and others not. I've also got a couple of pairs of vintage Brother machines from the cast-iron era.

Does anyone on here know where I can find dates that Bernina sold particular series of Bernettes? I'm also wondering how to find out dates for some of the Necchis. Bernina has the least-helpful websites that any manufacturer could devise.

All of my Bernina dealers in my area are new or relatively new (the Houston area). Therefore, there are no 'live' sources who might know. Is there a place on the web for dates? I'd sure like to find it if anyone can help.

There is a Yahoo group called Necchi Files. Someone there might be able to point you in the right direction.

You might be able to find answers at "The Needle Bar" ... it is a big site, you will probably have to drill down into it to get what you are looking for. It is no longer "active" but all the pages are still up as a SM museum site. A lot of curated info! Be warned... the site is a rabbit hole that I get lost in for days at a time.... Gorgeous machines.

When machines are new, I think they get advertised on companies websites. When they just had not been there before that. I think the "Wayback machine" at https://web.archive.org/ often tracks most stuff as in old URL's from at least about 1996 forwards often. If companies change their URL over time though, you would have to know what URL's they had used in the past, to even look at something there. If it's under some old and not current URL there though. I think a lot of new machines (of any time period- when new- no matter when that was) also get advertised in any sewing magazines when they come out too often. So those would all have issue dates on them too being some kind of sewing magazine. Lots of sewing machine owners manuals have dates for the manual printed on the last page of the manual often too.

Allen International was US Distributor for Necchi name for a long time, until Janome bought the name more recently. Their old website URL on the Wayback machine records would be
https://web.archive.org/web/19980120085745/http://allynint.com:80/

Don't know if that is the kind of Necchi you are talking about or not though.
