Has anyone tried the new titanium rotary cutting blades? (Moderated by Sharon1952)

I keep getting popup adds for titanium rotary cutting blades, 10 for roughly 24.00 and bigger volume discounts as well. Has anyone tried these out? They swear they last far longer than commons blades.

I've used the Olfa Titanium blades. There's a thread on PR about them somewhere. The titanium blades get mixed reviews it seems.
Anyhow, I found that they last a bit longer than the typical blade. Other people didn't have a good result. I'd get them again but only brand name blades.

A little longer, it really depends on what the fabric is, any blade with dull quickly on some fabrics like fleece.
Wait for the 50% off coupons at JA's and try them out.
Unfortunately, JA's are locked, so need to take a number to get them taken to the checkout...then I forget about them once I get there 1/2 the time...ugh.

I too have used the Olfa ones. I think that they seem to be sharper initially than other blades. As for how long they last I don't know. I have several rotary cutters and grab whichever is closer so it is difficult to tell. I would buy them again but the last time I looked for them in Joann's they had jumped from $12.99 to $19.99 each. Even with a discount coupon I don't think that there will be any more in my future unless the cost goes down.

I have been using the Olfa Tungsten blades. I have had one in my rotary cutter now for nearly 6 months... lots of cutting, not just occasional use, and it is still going strong. I will agree about longevity of use and outliving the common steel blades. I used to change blades every time I started a new project... mind you I am a quilter and cut a lot of fabric. Anyway, I bought 2, both on sale and with coupons. I think I paid about $7.95 per blade. I have seen them retail for as much as $12.99. I also think that if you can get one under $10 then you are doing quite well price wise.

Oh one other thing... once the tungsten blade is in the rotary cutter, it's nearly impossible to tell it from any other rotary blade, so I have marked the tungsten blade with a "T" using a Sharpie. Why this matters is I have several cutters, and once a blade is dull I keep it in an old Olfa blade case that's marked "used", and then use those old blades for cutting paper and other materials where a super sharp blade is not required... but also so I am not using my good cutter or blades for things that can dull them more quickly.

Tried the Olfa Endurance Blade and it had a burr on it. Wasn't impressed and didn't buy again.

Try contacting Olfa, and let them know. Ask them to replace minimally.

This was when they first released them a while ago. Doubt they would do anything for me.

Lydajca, so sorry you had this experience. It is disappointing to spend on such an expensive item, for it to be faulty. But I still might encourage you to write them... explain what happened that that it affected you so much that you have given up on this product... that really resonates with companies. I had an issue with my Tutto machine case and it took me a year to write them but I got so mad at myself for having an expensive trolley I couldn't use. So when I explained the issue, they immediately responded and fixed the broken part for me at no cost even though it was well past warranty expiration. In this case I paid for shipping to return it for repair but I was willing and turned to be one of the best decisions I made. It is at least worth the effort to contact Olfa.
