haven't been here much lately, and after receiving a few emails asking, I thought I'd better post.

I haven't been here partially because I haven't been sewing much - I've pretty much spent the last few months sleeping when I wasn't working, excluding an interlude of xmas baking.

I'm still not fully recovered from this summer, and am carrying around about 35-45 lbs of water weight that didn't go away when I finally went off the prednisone. I've finally started diuretics to get rid of it, but we stalled on that because of the choices available, one I might be allergic to, the second has some really icky possible side effects that would be exacerbated by my other medical problems, leaving a third, which is effective but a tad harsh and therefore rarely prescribed (it's one of the first created - from the 60s)

Went on the 3rd, and it is slowly working, but my spending the entire christmas weekend napping threw my dosing off.

I haven't wanted to sew anything to fit my waterlogged body, so I've been avoiding the machine, and have generally been trying to avoid the computer, since that requires sitting...which results in more water retention.

So, I'm alive, and will probably be back sooner rather than later...

Glad to hear you're still hanging in, Jules. It sounds as though it's been a rough go for you.

Hello Jules,
I have been reading along about your illness and glad to hear that you are better. I hope that you'll be less tired by the time the pills get you losing that water and up to sew again. Hang in there

I've also been wondering and worrying and am sorry to hear it was more health problems. I hope you can come back and play, even if it's just to chat a little or share some wisdom/experience.

I've found when I'm going through misery it can help to offer help to others, and this board has been part of that. Even talking about sewing and mentoring other sewists is nurturing to the psyche. Sitting up and thinking for even a short time reminds you that you're still alive, even when you feel as if you're in a coma most of the time.

You could maybe make yourself a caftan out of some really cool fabric, something you could wear around the house or as a nightgown no matter what size you are.

Here's hoping you feel a lot better really soon.

Ah, Jules! Glad to hear from you. It's the worst to be "off" on the sleeping routine. Hope you can rally back soon but check in to chat...there have been lots of non-sewing topics you'd love. Check out almost any thread started lately by our rollicking Neefer. She's had fun with postings this season

Hey Jules! It's good to hear from you!

I take breaks from sewing sometimes, and I think it is sometimes very beneficial. (I know, apostasy!) You'll be much more inspired when you do really want to get back to it.

Keep getting better!

Love, Kelly

Jules, it's really good to hear from you! I do hope the new year brings you all the good health & joy that was lacking in '05!

Last year, for different reasons, I found it impossible to sew or use the computer for several months. Miserable time it was! I realized later that at the point when it seemed like I was stuck in that dark tunnel forever, there was a light at the far end, I just couldn't realize it.

Hang in there -- it will get better!
