Hello!

I want to make a simple dress (rectangle block) where the entire bodice is shirred with rows of elastic and the rest of the fabric makes up the skirt.

I have some really nice cotton lawn I want to use, but it’s semi-sheer... I was thinking that could it possible for me to underline the lawn with some voile/batiste? So basically, I would be shirring two very lightweight pieces of fabric together. Would this work?

Thanks!

Shirr a sample of your lawn. With fairly dense shirring, you may find you have all the opacity you want.
