I get that some people don't want to read anything on PR that does not pertain to sewing. However, since many of us post here every day, we feel that we are friends. Of course, it's only natural that we'd want to get to know each other, which I think is why the non-sewing threads are started.
What's wrong with that?

Absolutely nothing!
I feel the same way. Besides sometimes the sewing threads get waaay off topic.
And sometimes we need advice about kids or husbands or whatever and it seems that the group here has great imput and unbiased opinions to help us through those times!

I feel that way too. I think we have a good compromise now, so those not interested can opt out of even seeing the miscellaneous topics. I'm not sure why someone couldn't simply ignore them, but this seems to have made it easier all around.

I really appreciate having the chance to get to know our friends here at PR on a non sewing basis too. Sometimes it is easier for me to have an opportunity to discuss other things that I may need support with in my life outside of the workplace.
I appreciate all of the support that I have received especially with Dh's injury and going through the bureaucratic hoops of dealing with Workers Comp here in CA, over the past four years. I really do not even want to fathom how much worse I would have been emotionally without all of your amazing support.
I am really trying to keep my personal life off limits as much as possible at work. Some of my co-workers would love to know more about me and just be gossipy mean spirits. (Sad but true )
I am just so thankful to Deepika and everyone here.

OK, I still don't understand this topic. Did someone complain about non-sewing topics? It's definitely what makes this site so user-friendly, IMHO. But then I'm usually the one guilty of getting way OT.

I believe that Deepika receives emails complaining about non-sewing threads. Who the heck has time to complain about something that is so easily ignored if one chooses to do so? And the last time I checked, we weren't under federal regs regarding appropriate topics. Wire-tapped, maybe - but not subject to federal definitions of appropriate fabric discussions. (PSSSSSSSS - guys - are you listening?)

Then they'll probably discover that subversive entry from someone looking for a flexible curve. Using Richard Blick's nickname will probably set off some alarms.

Karla, lol. I am fairly new. I didn't know people objected to OT topics in the Misc. boards. Or, perhaps people are going OT in other threads, I haven't noticed.
When I first found this site I was immediately impressed with how on-topic and respectful this board is.
