This week I started reading a new blog, Diary of a Sewing Fanatic, and in it, Carolyn gives her "Saturday Shout Outs".

It made me think about my sewing this week and who has directly impacted it. This week I tried a single thread dart for the first time, and the gentle suggestion of IRENE Q. in a thread about puckering darts from some time back.
It took a quiet night for me to sit down and practice this "new to me" technique and all I can say is, "100% difference!"

Thank you Irene Q. for initiating that change in my sewing.

The other person who made a huge difference this week is Els. My faced zipper openings never looked professional to my satisfaction until I started using her clean-finished technique in this tip:

And of course Deepika our hostess, and each 50,000. PR makes a difference, and truly every day something is shared that impacts someone else for the better.

If you want to thank, please give a shout and contribute to the miscellany of positivity!

I would like to give a shout out to Els. She helped me so much with my muslin for a jacket that I am making. Going so far as to create drawings of dart placement, and fitting tips. Thank you so much Els. I have learned so much. My bodice of my jacket is looking pretty good!

I would also like to thank Shannon Gifford and Georgene for fitting advice on my muslin. With Els, Shannon, and Georgene's help I will have a jacket that fits. Thank you!

How could I forget? A shout out to Gorgeous Things. They really are "no fear" welt pockets!

And a shout out to you, Kelly, for pointing out the single thread dart (very cool--must try that) and for inspiring the rest of us to improve our photo styling.

My shout-out for this week goes to Gigi! I had asked her for some advice on calling a "sewing idol" of mine... she urged me to go ahead and do it. I called the lady, had an excellent experience, and am completely motivated again. Without Gigi's advice, I would have been too hesitant to actually call.

Thanks Gigi!!(who inspires me on a daily basis, anyway!)

Thanks to MaryBeth, not for any sewing techniques but just for cheering me up. Which is one of the nicest things someone can do.

Although those "no fear" welts are pretty darn cool, Gorgeous Things Ann...

You're very welcome, although I've never heard of a single thread dart! Maybe it was Irene (no Q)?? Or Irina??

My shout goes to my 3 muses: Georgene, Gigi and Phyllis. Thanks for everything guys!

And I'm adding an extra shout to Deepika, for this site, but especially, this week, for the article on the top patterns!

Thanks to all!

I fondly think of Lisa Laree because of this tip every time I do an elastic waistband. This really got me over the hump on sewing knits.

I also send much gratitude to Leslie in Austin for alerting me and others to the Sewing Expo in Denton next month. I would never have heard about it otherwise.

Finally, I think a new category is in order: Smackdowns. I send these to all those purchasing enablers out there. You know who you are (and so does my credit card company).
