These are where I start.
Sewing machine parts on line. Then ebay, etsy.
Thread: WaWak, superior threads, red rock threads.
Local dealer, call with name of thread, and color number if further away, by the time you fill the tank, better to pay shipping.
Red Rock will match if you send them a sample.
If I end up on amazon, I'll check the seller's site, and if possible order direct.

You can lead people to the truth, but can't make them think.

I get parts from Sewing Machines Plus. Great prices and fast delivery. You might throw a look at their store if there is something you search for.
Last time, I ordered a Motor 9000rpm 1/15hp 1.5 Amp from them, and it was only 44$ + I got from DontPayFull a discount code for 5% off. Very cheap, I'd say.

Check where parts are actually shipped from, you may wait. I saw Turkey, China, Taiwan on Amazon/Etsy.
You can find good online videos on how to fix various machines. I found great tips for working on older machines yourself, often by engineering guys who like to take apart everything. One showed step-by-step how to deal with many problems inside older Brother models, especially helpful now that repairmen are gone. He even cleaned the outside panels in the DW!
Some are from 5+ years ago, but then lots of us hang on to the old reliable workhorses of the past.

Would fabbing a new motor belt out of window spline work, as it does for treadles? I swear I saw a recent discussion on homemade motor belts for odd sizes, but heck if I can recall where right now.
Just placed an order with Central Michigan Sewing Supplies / Sewing Machine Depot (no longer in Michigan) and was happy. Tracking never updated and I was about to be unhappy when pop! the package arrived on my doorstep in expected time.

Do the belts stretch over time? Is there some way to move the motor position or other guide slightly to get it on? Then after using it a while tighten it up by moving the motor or whatever you adjusted to get the belt on?
The reason I say this is I remember helping someone put a new alternator belt on a car. The alternator was bolted on through a metal slot. Had move it a bit to get the belt on. Then we used a “cheater pipe” as a lever to move the alternator and get the belt really tight before we tightened the bolt. After running the car a week, had to tighten it with the cheater pipe some more as it loosened with use. If the belt was loose it would squeal loudly and the battery wouldn’t charge. I don’t know if sewing machine belts are like this.

The way you adjust a belt, is to move the motor on the other end of it, closer or farther away.

Don't know what machine you have, but here is a link to a 20 7/8 belt:
