So... I was at Joann's yesterday and a young girl came up while my fabric was being cut and asked the clerk about a design in a picture she had in her hands. The clerk, although seemingly knowledgeable, didn't quite know what the answer was. So I pitched in and said that if she found a link to where she got the photo, and posted it here with her question, she'd likely find some excellent answers and advice.

When I mentioned "patternreview.com" the clerk perked up and said "Where's that??? Never heard of it. I'll have to write that down and check it out."

I was promoting how wonderful everyone here is and how much I've learned from this website and all the tips and tricks that are readily available.

Then along comes another clerk and also asks "what website is that? Never heard of it."

WOW. Wow. Really? Well, guess that goes to show that there are still some uninitiated dressmakers out there. LOL.

I was proud to be able to refer someone here. =)

Claire - glad she tripped over this site and became a member.

Usually when I meet someone that I discover likes to sew, I refer them here. There are a lot of people out there that never heard of this website. Just the other day, I gave the address to four ladies at the pattern book counter at Hancock's. And within the last couple of months, a couple of mothers that I met while my son was having speech therapy, I also refer them to this site. My SIL is starting to get into sewing and I referred her to this site. She is a librarian so maybe she will spread the word. IMO, all employees of all fabric stores, should be aware of this site so they can refer their customers to it.

I get that reaction all the time. "Pattern Review? What is it? I can learn to sew on the Internet? Really? Wow, I will have to check it out. Where did you say it was again? How do I find it?"

I have no idea how many times I have had conversations like this, but at least a dozen of them. I am usually in Jo-Ann's when this happens. A few people have heard of it. No one believes there are 50k of us. I tell them that only 110 or so are online at a time.

The site could not run if we had 10K online at a time. Can you imagine the wait and how many hundred reviews you could read a day?

This my 4th quilt in 7 months.

Yeah, it is amazing how many "sewing" people don't know about Patternreview. Especially in sewing stores. I found it when I was looking googling some sewing technique and had a WOW! moment. I thought this site was too cool for words. I remember saying to DH, "You gotta check out this website (like he'd really be interested )--it's awesome!"

I just say to these people, "You've never heard of Patternreview.com? You don't know what you are missing until you visit the website!"

You know, maybe Deepika (or someone) could put the logo and URL onto a template so we could print it out and cut out our own PR cards to hand out! If it's okay with here, I could do it.

We met lots of people at the recent ETA-Dallas seminar. As Leslie described it, we did PR for PR! Several have shown up here!

I've heard from one well known teacher/fashionista that only 10% of her sewing students use the internet to gather information about sewing. The PR conversation seems to be standard everywhere I go, also.

I'm a total internet searcher, so I found this site because I was looking for information about a Folkwear pattern I was working on and this site came up in the search engine. Wow, I was amazed (although it took me a few months to actually start using it routinely-- just busy and not fully obsessed yet I guess). No one in my local fabric store knows anything about anything (seemingly) but I did tell the woman at the sewing store about PR-- whether she actually looked I don't know. Haven't been back in yet. I'm a bad customer.
