I've properly threaded the twin needles on my Platinum 730. left thread left needle, right to right. I've got a straight stitch set to the medium weight knit. I even lessened the tension from the recommended 4 to 3 and 3.5. I'm still getting bunched up loops from my bobbin thread. I'm trying to top stitch the neckline on a knit top. I've top stitched before with few problems...oh yeah, I've also got clear elastic (the best kind) underneath the fabric. What's the deal?

You didn't say if you are using a stretch twin needle or not. Are you? Other than that, I don't know what to suggest.

Is your needle old? Sometimes, since we don't use them that much, we tend to not replace them when they start getting dull.

Another thing may be lint build-up, especially in the bobbin case.

The needles are fairly new, and I don't see lint in the bobbin case.

I am guessing that you already rethreaded your machine once too.

I think the elastic is the deal. Is it directly against the feed dogs? If so, do you have a water soluable stabilizer to slide in under the elastic so it doesn't get hung up?

What size needle are you using? Whatever it is, I'd go bigger with the elastic.

clear elastic is sandwiched between fabric. I used glue pins to get it to stick to the fabric, folded it over and topstitch on top of that.

This kind of thing only happens to me when I've screwed up the threading somehow, which happens more often that I wish to admit. Are you sure both upper threads are in the tension discs and haven't slipped out of the rotary hook thing? Also, when twin needle stitching, I don't wind the bobbin thread around the bobbin tension hook. I just let the thread roll itself off the bobbin.

One more thing: are you sure there isn't a stray thread trapped in your bobbin case that keeps getting hooked around the needles? That's happened to me, too ...

I have noticed one thread (there are two different types - one's a shiny blue, the other a regular blue) fuzzes up at the eye of the needle. Perhaps I should change this one thread....not sure I understand part about the bobbin case though....
