It is with great sadness that I must post that Claire Shaeffer passed unexpectedly on Saturday, January 11th, 2025. She is survived by two sons, two grandchildren and their spouses. With Claire’s passing, her unique sense of style, expertise and authority will be greatly missed. Please recognize the family’s desire for privacy at this time. (posted by James Shaeffer)

She is truly one of my sewing heroes and an interesting, graceful, and generous person. I'll honor her by pulling out some of her books and learning more from her incredible knowledge and ability to teach and inspire.

She is one of my sewing heroes as well. I refer to her books when problems arise.

And I just listened to her YouTube post about her plans for 2025. She will join the other sewing greats who have passed in sewing up a storm up there!

Very sad news - I have several of her books on my shelf and refer to them often!

This is so sad. She is such a remarkable woman that has inspired so many with her passion of textiles, couture sewing and teaching classes. Wishing her family many hugs at this time as well as her colleagues.

I'm so sad about this :(. I remember being mesmerized by her patterns when I was a high school student and being so proud I sewed up her trousers pattern.
