Walking dd home from the park yesterday, we took a slightly different route home. Passing an apartment with the blinds up, I spied an ironing board set up, with a nice iron on it.

Now, if you have been sewing all your life it might be news to you that the only people who have ironing boards set up in the corner of the room are sewers. Normal people no longer iron! I slowed my gait and peered closer. There was a Kenmore sewing machine!

So now I know for a fact that someone in an apartment building on the 100 block of 2nd Avenue, San Francisco, a mere block and a half from my home, sews.

I am actually considering taping a note to the window: "Hey! I sew too! Can we be friends? Let's be fitting buddies! Can I come over? Do you know where I can get Lastin in SF? What size patterns do you use? What method do you use to fit your pants? I hope you aren't a loner because you are going to be my friend now, like it or not -- you are just so convenient!"

Tailypo, I loved your post! My sentiments exactly! Sometimes I feel like there are so few of us who sew clothing, that geographically it is a lonely passion. PR makes it much less lonely, but an actual sewing buddy is a treasure. Lovely new picture!

I love the new photo! It is a new hairdo, too, isn't it? Absolutely smashing!

Tailypo, you crack me up. I'm somewhat a loner myself, but I'd be tempted to do the same thing you're contemplating!

Tailypo-
If you don't stalk the neighbor sewer, you'll end up like my cattywampus neighbor and I-took nine years to realize we were both quilters. It wasn't until she won $40 at our Halloween party and said she was going to the quilting store that it connected.

Do it! Maybe keep it a little more simple, such as I noticed sewing equipment and wondered if you'd want get acquainted. Just so the person doesn't realize you're stalking.

Go for it - you might make a great new friend. You could fudge a bit and say you walked by in the evening and the light was on in the room - deny that "stalking"!!!!

Well Tailypo, when I first moved to Minnesota I had no friends who knew how to sew or knit, and I walked by a strangers lab regularly and noticed a knitting magazine. I proceeded to walk by the lab until I saw someone sitting there. I pretty much asked her to be my friend and made a friend for life!!
